The 2nd most expensive laser range finder in our comparison, Swarovski is the leader in quality and design. With the highest power magnification 8x lens, magnification is enough to have the ability to range out to a maximum of 1,600 yards on highly reflective targets. Swarovski takes pride in claiming they have the clearest glass in the industry. Utilizing the optics from the SLC series binoculars, with an industry leading 2m rad series laser, I still found it difficult to range targets in sunny weather, or object’s that were set back against a tree line.  An issue that I didn’t get with the Leica.
When I first held the Swarovski, I fell in love with it. You can tell its built to last, and the pride that Swarovski takes in building such a quality range finder is easy to feel.

Swarovski Laser Guide 8x30The 2nd heaviest ranger finder in our comparison tipping the scale at 13.2oz, it’s nearly twice the weight of the competition. Placing the rangefinder up to your eye, along with the Zeiss the Swarovski has the most comfortable eyepiece; it feels very solid and gives the user the feeling of a quality product. Swarovski states the unit is waterproof to a depth of 4m.

With a 60 degree field of view, this range finder boasts the largest field of view out of any rangefinder in our comparison. Combine that with a large eye box along with super clear glass, the image quality is second to none.  Utilizing a red color LED display, the text and numbers look bold and almost bulky. I found that depending on the back ground it can be difficult to read the display when ranging against back grounds that are either broken or heavily wooded.

Accuracy is typically +/- 2 yards at greater than 700 yard ranges. This being said I had difficulty ranging any distance in the 1000 to 1200 yard ranges, multiple attempts were made, even with the assistance of a tripod. In mid-day light many times it would not be able to make this measurement, perhaps the UV rays were too high? Whatever the reason it did not live up to what was expected of it.
